The Spaniel Heartbeat Necklace - Recycled Sterling Silver

This necklace began, as many of my pieces do, with something very personal.

I live with - and love - spaniels. Their energy, their softness, their absolute commitment to joy. This small figure is my way of holding that spirit in silver.

Edith Wharton once wrote, “My little dog - a heartbeat at my feet.”

That quiet truth - the steady, reassuring presence that grounds you without asking for anything in return - sits at the heart of this piece.

The spaniel is cast in solid recycled sterling silver and measures approximately 9mm wide and 7mm at its highest point. I sculpted the original figure myself before having a mould made, and there is no other spaniel like it in my work. It’s small, but full of character - a tiny presence rather than a symbol.

The necklace can be worn on its own, or you can purchase optional handmade silver pebbles as pictured, each formed from silver offcuts in my workshop. These pebbles can be left plain or stamped individually with:

  • a letter
  • a word
  • a heart
  • or a star

They’re subtle, tactile, and personal - designed to sit quietly alongside the spaniel rather than compete with it.

And yes - for now, it’s only spaniels. I make no apology for that.

Collector's Note

A small nod to the dogs who take up far more space in our lives than they ever do in our pockets.
